Hey everyone who's reading my blog, here's a quick tutorial for people who just need a refresh of how to 3D print. But for sure make an appointment with technician if you need a full tutorial.
RHINO STEPS:
1) Select your objects that you want to 3D print, go file > export selected
2) Make sure your object is exported as an STL, Binary option!!!
3) A slider window should show up, adjust accordingly: more polygons means higher res of your object, which is great if you're printing something detailed or small, less polygon is good for faster printing.
PRUSA SLICER:
**Link from Object.digital, download for whatever you need for your comp https://github.com/prusa3d/PrusaSlicer/releases
1) When opening this, select Prusa i3 MK2.5 printer with a nozzle diameter size of 0.4mm. THIS IS IMPORTANT TO CHANGE!!!
2) After you've chosen these selections, save the printer info and a diff window with the plater header should show up. Click the cube with a plus sign
3) Import your STL files, make sure the bottom of your object is leveled to the bed (quick button for that is on the side bar, the slanted cube with a curved arrow pointing to a flat rectangle
4) Print settings, choose whichever you want. 0.05mm Ultradetail is high quality but also takes HOURS, 0.20mm Normal is usually fine for most prints, 0.35mm Fast is good for quick prints and low quality fast prototyping stuff
5) After making sure everything is correct click the bottom right button called "Slice now"
6) rotate around, make sure things aren't showing up as error (aka blue and purple colors), you can also use the vertical slider (basically a timeline) to check the interior of your print and make sure it won't be hollow at the wrong places mid-print
7) click the bottom right button called "G-code", export a copy to your usb or computer, then one the printer's SD card
3D PRINTING STEPS:
**if you need to learn how to switch filaments, ask for technician not me :)
1) Go to the fire hydrant area, turn on the switch that is on the metal box (this is the fan, must have that one before you start printing, also leave door open in case of emergencies)
2)Turn on the printer if you haven't done so, it's behind the bed on the right side
3) Preheat the bed to the PLA filament preset degrees
4) Pull out SD to upload your G-code file
5) Put in your SD card back into the printer orange screen area, the screen should auto read the card and you will use the little orange turning knob to get to ur file, click on the knob centre to "select" the file
6) it should print now, if you need to stop the print click on the knob centre again and turn to stop print (which is under pause print, just need turning the knob)
7) When you're done the print, please let printer cool down to around 30 degrees? Just before you turn off the printer and leave the room, you must let it cool down. If you hover the bed and it's still quite warm, DO NOT TURN OFF PRINTER
8) Turn off printer, if you'd like you can delete your file off the printer's SD card. Turn off lights and everything, make sure nothing is on and can cause fire, then u can leave room with your printed objects!
Enjoy :)
THANK YOU!!! I TOTALLY FORGOT HOW TO DO THIS PART!!!!
