Ceramic 3D Print

Concept Sketch: Trying to combine our (Adam, Siwon, and Erica's) original object and our new group members (Amanda and Ri's) design, was quite confusing at first. We realized that Amanda and Ri's design doesn't work with the ceramic 3-D print as the base of the design, along with how their design all meet together at a very sharp point. With our design, the rings hanging off the design wouldn't work with the clay either. We all liked the way Adam and Siwon's design faded together really well, so each of us sketched out one design where it blended both objects together in different ways. We ended up having similar ideas of adding the egg-shaped at the bottom and keeping the fade between Adam and Siwon's design.            Rhino 6 files: Merging similar parts of sketches, we decided to create it in Rhino to visually see if our post In some of the screenshots, in the background are the trial and errors of the design. We had to rebuild our initial d

3D Printed Object: Hybrid Design

Concept Generator: These were the outcomes of what I had for generating concept, some of mine wouldn't fully work when I really thought of how the 3D printer worked. Only the flat coned shape and 3 rings fully worked, and it matched with my groups' the most since their shapes were mainly in a cylinder-like.     Combining Group Objects: I was in a group with Adam and Siwon. Out of our three designs, Adam's had the more sturdy base design so the 3D Printer could hold everything together. Siwon's design was a more decorative angled vase shape, like diamond-cut edges. My design, placing it into Slic3r separately, I could tell the rings immediately didn't look as sturdy as we wanted. So mine has the most changes or reconsideration in how that would end up printing. We had to make sure the rings interlock with the base and each other so that the printer would keep everything into one piece without falling apart mid-print.  Initially, we had Siwon's in t

Papercraft: Final Revision

My final revision of my angel figure looks like this:  Brief Summary:      In total it was a 3-hour process to laser-cut and physically put together everything. This was all made in cardstock, no other paper materials were used. Here was my inspiration (the logo/character digital design), prints of the flat design, rhino file screenshots, prototype, compared to the final.  In Detail Summary and Feedbacks:      It has slightly become a bobblehead paper figurine because of the weight and attachment from the head and the body pieces. The only parts that didn't seem to fully work in the final revision were the burn marks on some of the wings because of the laser cutter.       From the feedback I received and the considerations of the small details from the original design that I didn't put into the prototype, I chose to add the eyes, tail, and a lot of wing pieces. Since I was using detailed cut-outs for the wings, I chose to add a splash of colour for
